About TrustAllie
It all started when...
Our founder realized his experience growing up was unusual. Alex's mom (Susan) had made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom, despite the fact that she was, in her words, "not the mothering sort."
When I was 5, I got a doll for my birthday to play house with. After I unwrapped it, I stared at it for a few seconds and promptly threw it in the garbage. It just wasn't something I wanted to do.
Nevertheless, when her own kids were born she made the decision to put aside professional goals and stay at home to raise them, even though she knew, "This isn't something that society generally values". The sacrifice was made possible through the knowledge that her husband appreciated her and would be able to support the family after graduate schooling was finished.
Fast forward 30 years to the moment Alex realized his experience was increasingly in the minority. A conversation with a classmate informed him that $1400 a month for 3 days a week of daycare wasn't unusual for working parents with children. He thought back to his childhood relationship with his mother, how much he appreciated that sacrifice, and how she had often felt devalued as a "stay-at-home mom". He knew that there was both a problem and a solution somewhere between those two groups of dedicated parents.
Today TrustAllie is a company dedicated to helping people rediscover the joy of parenting in a post-industrial world. We firmly believe in an artisanal, small-batch approach to childcare. For millions of years parents have been raising children; it's only in the last few hundred years that circumstances necessitated a change in that model and industrialized daycare was born. At TrustAllie, we aim to return things to their natural order. Parenting is the original cottage industry and we believe that by bringing working parents and "Alloparents" together we can literally make the world a better place for everyone.
